been busy...
let's see how i do in summing up the past few weeks…
BACK STORY: last november was not my best month… applied for, interviewed for, and didn't get 2 jobs… (looking back now a MAJOR blessing in disguise). then didn't pass a test i had been "studying" for about a month. one of those tests where you hear "oh, you will pass it! you'll pass it with flying colors"… missed it by 5 questions and honestly if i had one more month to study i am not sure what i would have changed (other than not preparing for 2 big interviews with presentations at the same time)! it had been a while since i went 0 for 3 (probably my past dating life) and i was pretty bummed… VERY bummed. but my boyfriend decided he wanted to marry me ("failure" and all) and christmas morning changed my perspective on things.
yada yada yada… took the test again today and passed! not at all by flying colors… but passed! i now have three more letters behind my name :) kim dobbin, pharmd, cde!! (that is certified diabetes educator if you were wondering). luckily when you pass you get reimbursed, so i swung by the apple store and picked myself up an iPad2 (and a CFA sandwich)! i tell you what though… 6 years later... studying sucks a LOT more than it used to! it has made me CRAZY! thank goodness for my "anti-bridezilla-pills" or else i really would have lost it and probably failed again! i wonder how i did it in school for 20 years and never much "worried" about tests!
lately to my surprise i am not missing Oprah at all! i <3 ellen! she makes me laugh a lot more than the big O!
got my tenth peachtree road race number last week! thats going to be a hot race! but at this point i can't just stop getting t-shirts!
reinstated massage monday today! and got a facial! that was nice (esp after taking the magic pills).
7 days until vacation and the resurrection of wedding planning (as if i didn't make myself a bomb-@$$ super organized notebook during a "study break" last week). now with iPad in tow i have all my questions, ideas, and contracts in one place and ready to go!!
this weeks' favorite thing: xanax!!

baby, baby, babies
this weekend was full of babies! i am still in awe that my friends are making little people that are a perfect combination of mommy and daddy!
Saturday started by celebrating Brett's 3rd birthday.
Sunday was monthly play day in the park. monthly girl's dinner has been going strong for over 2 years now… and since the little people are learning how to walk around it can make for a less than relaxing evening for the mommies. now i don't have any, but can imagine that chasing the tots around is not the night out (in) we intended at the initiation of monthly girl's dinner. for the most part we like to spend time with these little princesses (and bennett and everett)… so someone (i believe it was jana) had the brilliant idea to break the month in half and have a play day in the park. first sunday of the month! babies, toddlers, and husbands all invited! it was certainly a lovely Sunday afternoon followed by a crazy taco and cheese dip. mmm mmm good.
i close with a baby montage!

SQUIRREL!
we spent memorial day weekend up in the blue ridge mountains with a couple of couples. it was a nice relaxing weekend!
i was trying a new medication to help some of my anxiety lately but suffered from some not so fun side effects. of the 48 hours we were there i spent over half of them asleep and ~12 of those hours included a nauseating migraine :( its now 9:30 pm on monday (though my brain still thinks it is sunday) i have had a workout, a nap, baking therapy, a steak, and i feel near headache relief for the first time all weekend! the sad part is that the pill TOTALLY took the edge off! i just can not function with my skull splitting like that. i guess there isn't much worry about when all you are physically able to do is sit in a dark quiet room!
the highlights of the weekend included jilly's cupcakery cupcakes and a flying squirrel!
here is a video to show some of the excitement! the video may seem a little anti-climactic… but this was after the squirrel 'flew' about 20 feet off the window sill.

the giving tree and (t)WFT
once again i count my blessings. what crazy weather we have had this year. this was the site at my house prior to coming home from the gym this evening! luckily there was no major damage! my 'neighbor' lost a gutter… and even if my car had been in its spot we would still be in okay shape.
thanks to my neighbors we were able to clear a path to the front door!
after the clean up (in the pouring rain) and a warm shower i ended up eating cheese and pretzel M&Ms for dinner. i will designate pretzel M&Ms this Week's Favorite Thing.

this Week’s Favorite Thing (WFT): moms
see how i did that? i can still use WFT but if I miss a wednesday deadline (or if blogger is down for 2 days) it can still work! so this past weekend was Mother’s Day. i had the pleasure of taking my wonderful mom to the Georgia Aquarium. my camera is not fantastic but i tried to get some fishy shots! is it bad that all i wanted to eat was sushi and crab legs when we left?
instead of seafood though, we ended up on an amazing patio at fellini’s for pizza.
it was a glorious day: the view, the weather, the pizza, the diet coke with a splash of root beer, the company! pizza must have been the theme for mother’s day this year... when asked where my mother-in-law-to-be wanted to go to dinner... all she wanted was pizza too! i ended up with a salad for that one!

post race entertainment
Instead of the 'free' Montgomery Gentry concert, we stayed in for burgers, hot dogs, manis and pedis! I was more than blessed to see the dance performance by Christina's niece, Ella (age 4)!
